A bit of a let down as a conclusion. Turtledove's approach (e.g., switching between characters, tedious repetition of material an observations) has gotten formulaic and it is resulting in bloated series. This entire trilogy could have been boiled down into one 400-page book and would have been a better story for the editing. This wasn't as bad as the dead-boring Super Volcano series, but it was close. This is probably the last Turtledove I bother with, which is too bad.
