Add a CommentIt was all right, nothing great. It was a C movie nothing more. I fell asleep towards the end. Neither actor is ever going to ever get an academy award for acting. I had read comments and the 4 & 5 star must have come from relatives. To many other things to watch to waste time on this one.
Sadly, two stars for a bit of funny but not much else here worth interest.
This is the time-proven buddy pairing with an evolved form of straight man and comedy partner. While the casting might seem perfect on paper, Bautista is supposed to be smarter than the goon Vic he represents, and Nanjiani, who I normally think is hilarious, is the pissed-off pacifist Stu, and together they just don’t gel.
I can’t even think of these two as the characters they represent, it’s just Bautista and Nanjiani. Nanjiani is trying way too hard to carry the movie with physical comedy and badly paced zingers, and it fails because you can’t take him seriously at the same time you accept him as funny. This leaves Bautista cueing lines with his own slapstick thrown in, and it fails to entertain. I found myself waffling between wishing which partner would die first. Being a comedy, the requisite baseline Hollywood forced unreality and unnecessary violence also doesn’t fit. By the end, it’s just two guys arguing without being funny, and we’re supposed to imagine some kind of self-improvement project coming to a conclusion; I just grew tired of watching two guys argue. This ain’t the Odd Couple. In the oddly speechless closing scene, where the protagonists acted glad the drama was ended, it appeared that they were glad the movie was finally ended.
And lastly, I didn’t like the strange mockery of some great songs, seemingly picking on a generation when that generation wasn’t a factor in the plot or represented by any characters. Instead of a running joke about Uber star incentives, it came across as inappropriate soundtrack that didn’t really fit the situation or add anything to the comedy. Again, a comedy that struggled too much to be funny.
It was so fun to watch a movie that is genuinely funny .. clean, without the f word. I want to watch more movies like this! Laughing is good medicine.
This movie re-defines masculinity with a seance of humor along with a lot of product placements (Apple, Uber, and the 2019 Nissan Leaf) other then that it's good! A must watch
An action overkill movie with average comedy. Stuber is part of an odd genre of comedy and action where the only comedic aspects were quite bad and the rest was action. This movie was just a mashup of shootouts then a joke, then some more shootouts, and then another lame joke. It followed this loop through the entire movie and it got dull real quick. Only at some points throughout the movie did I actually laugh at a joke. The ending of the movie was also very generic, and I bet you can guess what happens. Personally I am a fan of action movies but Stuber was just purposeless. My rating of this movie is a 2/5. @UniquePerspective of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library
Definitely not for me.
I didn't have high hopes for this movie but in addition to being a gourmand, I also enjoy Spicy Nacho Doritos and Fanta, so I got everything I wanted out of this action flick. I enjoyed the "liberal crapfest" spin on the buddy-cop genre. Kumail Nanjiani is hilarious and David Bautista really impressed me with his chops AND he had his shirt on the whole time! Also I think I may have nightmares about several scenes, including but not limited to seeing a man's face collapse from a thrown propane tank that then explodes (awesome), and the largest penis I've seen since the nude model I dubbed "Mr. Meatloaf" in art school over a decade ago. 4 stars from this libtard.
Is an action movie, perhaps not in the mood.
Yeah, agree with another comment. Didn't quite feel this buddy buddy action movie. Off balance comedy between 2 guys that are uncomfortable with one another and made the audience feel kind of meh. Macho vs. whiny is not a great combination.
Paint a wall, watch it dry. Time better spent then watching this movie
