Somewhat offbeat crime thriller with an unconventional lead: Donnie, who is on the autism spectrum is a sanitation worker compelled to find out what happened to a neighbor boy whom he doesn't believe drowned. A very strong, startling performance by Andrew Scott keeps it interesting, despite a few preposterous plot holes.

A sad little movie about Donnie, a sanitation worker who is practically friendless and clueless in his slow-witted life. On his daily route of garbage collection he is waved to from an upper window by a young boy. When the boy goes missing it profoundly effects Donnie and he can not seem to believe what everyone else believes, that the boy has drown. The movie is all about Donnie trying to find out what really, if anything other then drowning, happened to the boy, Tyler. It is a character study of a man who has very little to live for and is willing to make his dismal life matter for something. The actor (Andrew Scott) who plays Donnie is really good in his role. The movie however made me feel dark like its title.
