It takes quite a lot to say that something is timeless. Being timeless is more than just a label- it means that the subject is near-perfect and extremely well-done, thus making it resistant towards the effects of time. The White Album, however, surpasses timelessness with flying colors. Released in 1968, the album was and still is, a quintessential addition to any musical collection, as each track is different and unique in its own way. Complete with 30 songs (the most a Beatles album had up to date,) The White Album's sheer confidence and range are what made listeners come back to it time and time again. The surprising sounds of "Helter Skelter" to the softer melody of "Dear Prudence" showcases this incredible array of difference, which is especially highlighted by a melodic recluse: "Revolution 9," possibly the most questionable (and frightening) songs ever to be written by John Lennon. Although at the time of the album's release the band was beginning to break, this is not at all evident in their music and instead (in my opinion) adds to the songs even further. Almost all of The Beatles' albums were revolutionary, and "The White Album" is definitely no exception. 5/5. @showmethemonet! of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board
