The men of SEAL Team Sixteen take on a truly challenging opponent: Troubleshooters, Inc., the civilian counterterrorist team of former SEAL commanding officer Tom Paoletti. The two groups face off as part of a winter training exercise in the mountains of New Hampshire, where, despite the cold weather and meager accommodations, they find the assignment a pleasurable one - particularly for Petty Officer Mark Jenkins, who has helped get his sister's best friend (and his seventh-grade crush) Tracy Shapiro a job as the Troubleshooters' new receptionist. But it's Troubleshooters operative and former LAPD detective Lindsey Fontaine who understands all his jokes. Jenk and Lindsey becomes friends - and then more - as the two teams train together. The real world intervenes, however, when Tracy goes missing in the freezing woods. As hours stretch into days, the search widens - but she's vanished without a trace. Soon the bodies of brutally tortured women are discovered beneath the ice of a flooded quarry, and it becomes clear that a serial killer has made this area his home.

*Refers to print edition* (5 stars) I never thought I would become an Izzy fan, but he cracked me UP! I don't think I have ever laughed so much during a sex scene. As for Jenk, while I've liked his character for a while, he is definitely more "perfectly flawed" than I had expected. Brockmann did an excellent job making both Jenk and Lindsey simultaneously admirable and messed up. She's totally right to call him on his interchangeable brides, but she's downright cruel at times and blinds herself to her own emotions and motivations. Jenk is awesome, but not as much of a paragon as some of the other heroes in the Troubleshooters series. The plot was intense; torture is always hard for me to think about and some of the gory details didn't bear too much reflection. That said, it was another excellent book, accompanied by a sweet bonus short story about Sam, Alyssa, and Jules.
