Dolores Claiborne's elderly employer dies suddenly, apparently from falling down a flight of stairs. This tragedy sparks memories of the day Dolores's husband died-- the day of the total eclipse. Suspected by police and townspeople alike, she delivers a story of a disintegrating marriage, and the breaking point reached by a docile woman.

This book is told completely in first person from the main character's perspective. How does King do that? He manages to tell the whole story thoroughly through Dolores's perspective, and she unravels the mystery little by little, just like I like it! Highly recommend.

This was so depressing I could not continue after a couple of chapters.
