"Traffic on Elmhirst Road has come to a halt. The police are stopping cars, searching for something. Nicki Clements waits patiently, until she glimpses a face she hoped she'd never see again. It's him--and he's the cop checking each car. Desperate to avoid him, she makes a panicky U-turn and escapes. But Nicki's peculiar behavior did not go unnoticed, and now the police have summoned her for questioning. A resident of Elmhirst Road has been murdered--a controversial newspaper columnist named Damon Blundy. The detectives begin peppering her with questions. Why was she seen fleeing the scene? What is her connection to the victim? Why was the knife that killed him used in such a peculiar way? Why were the words "He is no less dead" painted on the wall of Blundy's study--and what do they signify? One simple answer could clear her. But she can't explain why she fled Elmhirst Road that day without revealing the secret that could ruin her. Nicki isn't guilty of murder. But she's far from innocent."--provided from Amazon.com.

(The ninth book in the Culver Valley Crime series)

What a complicated story! Exactly as the character of Nicki. The ending - is not impressive at all: the murderer should be another personage, and not the one, chosen by author. On the last pages described something that has almost nothing in common with the plot of book, it could be a story for another novel. This book should have a different name - not "Woman with a secret," but "Women with a secret" - in plural.

I could not put this book down. I love books by Liane Moriarty and Tana French - and this was right up there with them. It was a fun and suspenseful read.

The reviews from notable authors had me intrigued. A few times it would just start to pique my interest and then it just turned me off with the language and lack of direction. I gave up after the first 40 pages and decided not to waste my time. I wondered why I had not read any of her books....now I know why.

Good idea but unnecessarily complicated.

Another intriguing, suspenseful psychological police procedural from a writer who's becoming a master of the genre.
