I read Hunters and Sandworms of Dune almost 10 years ago, and while a lot of people detract from the KJA Dune novels, I still think it was as best an ending as could be done. At least, from anyone other than the late Frank Herbert himself. I don't subscribe to the whole 'McDune' controversy, and I actually enjoyed most of the Dune novels existing outside of the original 6.
If you aren't a Herbert purist, you will probably enjoy the two Dune finale book. Each gives readers things they probably want to see. It resurrects important deceased characters, it shows a new type of sandworm that doesn't need to live on an 'Rakis' type planet, and it even connects the dots between the the ancient human war that ended the use of machines and the gossamer laden menace that forced the Honored Matres back into known space. The final (chronology wise) Dune books were as enjoyable as any followup series could be given the circumstances.

good book... Nice wrap up of the original Dune series... We were kind of left hanging with the no-ship escaping chapterhouse...
