After watching a few episodes I gave up. The hand held camera is bouncing around all the time and makes me grab for dramamine. I guess the idea is to make the scenes more authentic but the effect was distracting to me. Also, there are about 6 story lines in play at the same time. The scenes jump from one story line to another every very few minutes. Together, it made this show hard to watch.

John Wells handed this to Ann Biderman! >>>> I get 4 more seasons to watch…. >>>> Network tv SUCKS. JUST A RATINGS ROBOT. What do you want from a machine? ≥≥≥≥ When people eat food made by machines do they become machines (or just wind up thinking machines are god?). <<<<< Way way way too good for the likes of ‘poor peoples’ cable’ (network). People w/more money had to watch this instead. >>>>>

A good balance of air time on the lives of a broad spectrum of characters in a team of LA cops and their community of citizens. Enjoy seeing both the good and bad sides behind the men/women working to keep law and order from South Central to Beverly Hills.

One of my favorite shows. May be the best police drama since The Wire. "Southland is commendably stinting and cold, a series that doesn’t aim to please, and is all the more pleasurable for it." (Alessandra Stanley for The New York Times 4/8/09.)

I just started watching this series which I got on dvd so I can watch the whole season without waiting. I was a fan of Law and Order when I was younger until I realized that the script on Law and Order is really bad. Southland just made me love cop shows all over again. The acting is so real I feel like I'm watching a documentary about LAPD. It's so real and the camera angles are fantastic. I love it so far can't wait to watch season two. Best Cop Show ever.

Arguably the best cop show ever and set as the title emplies, right here in the "City of Angels". The verisimilitude is shattering and authentic. I was surprised to see this on the library's shelves and didn't notice the "uncensored" until after viewing the first disc; this was a pleasant surprise after all of the bleeped words on the TV presentation. Obviously, it had been shot with naughty words included and bleeped during editing; knowing cops intimately as I do (LAPD family member, Law Enforcement Explorers eons ago), I know that THEY know how to cuss. Hopefully, there will be subsequent releases of "Southland Uncensored" and I can only extend thanks to TNT for picking up on something NBC was too timid/stupid to broadcast.

Gritty cop drama with the ring of truth. I'm glad I picked this drama up as I'd never seen it before- the acting is excellent. Will be going after season two next...

One of my favorite new series. So glad that TNT picked it up after NBC foolishly axed it. Amazing ensemble cast and superb writing!

Lighter moments when some citizens call 911:

Cop: Ma'am, is everything okay?
Mom to little girl: See? You dialed 911, and these nice men came to help us. That's how it works. If you ever have a problem, or anything bad happens to you or Mommy ... you just dial 911.
Cop: So let me get this straight. You just dialed 911 so you could teach your daughter how to use it?
Mom: Of course. How else is she going to learn?
Cop: Well, no offense, ma'am, but you have your head up your frigging ass.
Cop: Ma'am, what's the problem?
Woman: They're out of chicken nuggets. I've eaten them every day for 15 years.
Cop: You called 911 because they're out of chicken nuggets?
Woman: What am I supposed to do?
Cop: I don't know. But right now you need to bring it down.
