A childrens story that is amusing and doesn't have much of a lesson to it, except possibly about being friends with people who are different from you.

A charming classic! Funny and engaging - great for older preschoolers/early elementary.

My 2.5 and 4.5 both liked it. House favorite for weeks. She got the joke more than he did (she is older) but they cracked up at the end. We talked about it to understand it better. Her class liked it and I passed on this resource:

My three-year-old was unimpressed with this one, maybe reading it once. She didn't seem to get the joke of the book, or at least didn't think the joke funny. Lionni has better work.
