The UNLV Jazz Concert Series features performances by exceptional groups from the UNLV School of Music, Division of Jazz and Commercial Music. These student musicians have received twenty DownBeat Magazine Student Music Awards since 2010 which is considered among the highest recognition in Jazz education worldwide. UNLV Jazz ensembles and combos have performed at the acclaimed Monterey Jazz Festival, Village Vanguard and other notable venues throughout the nation. They have garnered ten consecutive outstanding CD reviews 2010-2019 from the respected publication, Jazz Times, and alumni perform internationally with distinguished ensembles including the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, directed by Wynton Marsalis; the Count Basie Orchestra; and many others.
