July 31, 2021 marks the 40th anniversary of the premiere of Jubilee!, Donn Arden's longest-running stage spectacular, which famously combined disasters like the sinking of the Titanic with lines of beautiful showgirls and dancers swathed in feathers and rhinestones. At its opening, the $10 million spectacular was one of many large-scale fishnet and feather style production shows on the Las Vegas Strip including the Lido de Paris, Folies Bergere, City Lites, and Casino de Paris. By the time the curtain fell on the final show on February 11, 2016 nearly 35 years later, Jubilee! was the last of its kind, and its closure marked the end of an era.
Join us for a fun-filled afternoon of reminiscences from original cast members including Tricia Leibovici and Janet Spellman and learn about the work involved in designing and creating the fabulous Bob Mackie finale costumes from his assistant, Diana Eden. The talk is hosted by Su Kim Chung, Head of Public Services and Curator of Entertainment History Collections, UNLV Libraries Special Collections and Archives.
